If you need any help or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask any of the members.
You will be kept updated on everything of importance regarding the club, in our weekly newsletter. Read these well!
Please also visit the gardens website www.gardenstennis.co.uk and join the Gardens’ Facebook page.
You will have been issued with a fob so you have access to the club at any time. If you bring a guest, please sign them in in the book next to the water fountain on the veranda and pay £5 into the honesty box. Guests are not permitted Mon/Wed/Thurs 7-9pm or Sat/Sun 10-12pm (midday) and you may only bring the same guest three times in any membership year.
The following times are dedicated ‘social sessions’ and if you go down to the courts at these times you will be invited (and expected) to mix in randomly with other members:
- Tuesdays: 6pm to 9pm
- Fridays: 6pm to 9pm
- Sundays: 2pm to 6pm
Please remember we welcome members of all ability so there is no such thing as ‘I may not be good enough’ to join in with the social sessions. Our resident coach is willing to run a 6 week ‘refresher’ coaching session for anyone interested. Please email Nondini or me (Jane) at firstname.lastname@example.org if this is of interest to you – if there are enough respondents we will plan accordingly.
Balls are provided (free of charge) for the social sessions – we ask you please, to leave the 4 balls for your court at the net at the end of your set. At the end of the session, kindly bring all the balls from your court and return the ‘club session box’ to be found in the bar (if the balls are damp, place them on the radiator). If you aren’t satisfied with the quality of the balls, feel free to purchase a can from behind the bar (£5.00 to be put in till).
Please provide your own balls for any tennis you play out of social sessions.
To make sure mixing in on social sessions takes place properly it is imperative that you come off the court to see if there is anyone waiting for a game. It is no good glancing up to the veranda and deciding that if there isn’t anyone there, you can have a second set. There are often people inside the bar and anyone who has been waiting has first priority to go onto a court.
The bar is always open after the social sessions so good idea: plan to stay for a drink after the tennis and get to know the other (lovely!) members.
It’s not too late to enter the club championships or the next ‘box league’ or to put your name down as a prospective player for any of our teams. If any of this appeals, please email us on email@example.com and we will make sure it gets to the right person!
