Committees

Committees & Volunteering 

The club is run entirely by volunteers and we need as many of our members to help, as possible.    As well  as the main committee and several sub-committees, there are frequent jobs, like helping recycle the balls,  manning the bar and helping to stock it, clearing up the grounds and helping with  various tournaments and events.

Main Committee

The main committee is elected  at the annual AGM to manage the club. 

The 2025/26 Committee is as follows:

More about your Committee
The club rules state that the Committee must consist of 4 officers of the club: Men’s and Women’s Captains, the Hon. Secretary, and the Treasurer, plus between 7 and 20 other members who need not have any specific role.

The Committee meets 8 to 9 times a year.    All Committee members are expected to attend meetings and to be involved in strategic decisions about the running of the club. We want to use the wealth of expertise and experience we have amongst the membership, so if you have specific professional skills that may be of benefit, or are simply a long-standing member who would like to be involved in strategic decision-making about the club’s future, please speak to one of the committee.

Maintenance &   Facilities Sub-Committee

The Facilities Sub-Committee is responsible for the organisation, administration and maintenance of the facilities  at the club.  If you have any suggestions to improve things or think that something is not right, then please contact us  at    [email protected]

Responsibilities
 These include, but are not limited to:
  • Repairs and maintenance of the clubhouse (internal and external)
  • Ensuring all facilities are in a good state of working order (e.g. kitchen, bar, and toilets)
  • Maintaining the  barbecue, balcony,    and outside chairs and tables
  • Lights, TV,  Internet,    and security system

 Bar   & Hall Hire Sub-Committee

Responsibilities
 These include, but are not  limited to:
  • Managing and stocking the bar​
  • Handling of tenant relationships and hiring of cleaners

Responsibilities

hese include, but are not necessarily limited to:
  • The organisation of social sessions, American tournaments and box leagues
  • Team Tennis including the booking of courts for matches and coaching
  • The annual club tournament
  • Court etiquette
  • Rules for waiting and guests at busy times including oversight of the guest book and payment of guest fees
  • Maintaining court equipment (e.g. nets, umpires chairs and scoreboards)
  • The purchase of, and ensuring an adequate supply of, tennis balls
  • Welcoming new members and prospective new members
  • Managing relationships with the coaches​
